Which dot-matrix printer should I buy?
Halingo works with any dot-matrix printer in principle, for printing your certificates of care.
Watch two things when you buy:
- Compatibility with your pc. Windows rarely causes problems. With Apple, check beforehand.
- Print quality: 24 pin or 9 pin. The more pins, the better the print quality.
We recommend the Epson LQ-350 (24 pin). Several customers use this model. An Epson LX-350 (9 pin) is enough in most cases. You are free to choose another model.

Apple and manufacturer support
Many manufacturers still offer little support for their dot-matrix hardware, certainly in combination with macOS. The Epson printers worked with the standard CUPS drivers recently, but for Mac users we cannot guarantee that this will last.
No parallel port
Do not buy a second-hand printer that has only a parallel port and no USB port. Windows no longer guarantees support for that older technology.
Printer cable
A printer cable is usually not included with the printer. Order one along with it. Examples:
Paper certificates will be replaced by the electronic version in time. Consider a second-hand device to keep your investment down.
